By Diane Harris, HQ Stitch Brand Ambassador

I’ve been watching each new And I Quilt video with interest. In case you’re not familiar, And I Quilt is an ongoing campaign from Handi Quilter in which quilters from all walks of life are introduced.

There is a focus on the other interests each person has, and some of them are surprising.

Dorien Keusseyan is a hockey player.

Jeresther Thorpe-Page is an elementary school principal.

Jan Yancey is a painter and designer.

All of this has me thinking.
Who am I, besides a quilter?

Who is Diane Harris, besides a quilter?

The first thing that comes to mind is that I’m a daughter.

But then I think again, because neither of my parents is living.

After having four boys between 1942 and 1951, my mom had a surprise package in 1960 at age 38: me. That birth order significantly influenced who I became. I was probably spoiled but I knew I was loved, even cherished. So even though Mom and Dad are gone, I will still claim it:

I’m a daughter.

And because of these two, my son and my daughter:

I’m a mom.

I’m a wife.

(Just got married, on December 20!)

I’m a grandma!

(Doing not just a happy dance, more like an ecstatic dance!)

I’m an aunt and a great-aunt!

I’m a gardener.

(Some years more than others.)

I’m a collector.

I’m a speaker.

I’m a brand ambassador.

(LOVE my HQ Stitch machines!)

So I’m curious.

If they ran a public relations campaign about you,
what would it say?

I’m a _________________, and a _____________, and I quilt!

If you’re reading this you’re probably a quilter. But what other interests do you have? Please leave a comment with your answer. I can’t wait to hear!
