It seems like a good time to describe my favorite features in each machine.

HQ Stitch 210

For the HQ Stitch 210, I love its small size. Weighing in at just 12 pounds means I can easily tote it to sewing days and retreats. I can easily carry it up and down stairs with one hand.

And even though it’s a portable, the 210 boasts everything you need for beyond-the-basics sewing: blind hemstitch, blanket stitch, triple stitch, adjustable motor speed and more.

HQ Stitch 510

If I had to choose just one machine for the rest of my life, it would be the HQ Stitch 510. I am serious. It’s a workhorse of another color. It boasts 1600 stitches per minute because of what I’ve come to think of as an industrial strength motor.

A friend asked me if it was difficult to control my accuracy when I was sewing this fast. And the truth is that you get used to the speed and it’s not at all hard to be in control. And when you go back to a machine with a slower speed, it feels like you’re driving an antique tractor. Putt-putt-putt.

HQ Stitch 710

If you need a machine with all the bells and whistles, one that does everything except for cooking dinner, this is the one to get.
